  • Arkansas Census, 1819-70: This collection contains the following indexes: 1819-1829 Tax Lists Index; 1820 Federal Census Index; 1823 Sheriff's Census Index; 1829 Sheriff's Census Index; 1830 Federal Census Index; 1830-1839 Tax Lists Index; 1840 Federal Census Index; 1840 Pensioners Index; 1850 Federal Census Index; 1850 Slave Schedule; 1860 Federal Census Index; 1870 Federal Census Index.
  • Arkansas Census, 1840: This is an index to the 1840 Census of Arkansas, the first Federal Census taken after Arkansas was admitted to the Union on June 15, 1836. Information in the Census includes, where available, the name of the head of the household, city or county of residence, number of free white males and females by age group, number of free colored males and females by age group, number of persons in each family employed in mining, commerce, manufacturing and trades, etc., pensioners for Revolutionary War or military services, schools, and the number of persons over 20 who can't read or write.
  • Arkansas Death Index, 1914-1950: This database is an index to approximately 594,000 deaths that occurred in Arkansas between 1914 and 1950.
  • Arkansas Divorce Index, 1923-1939: This database is an index to divorces that were filed in Arkansas from 1923-27 and 1934-39. Information that may be found in this database includes plaintiff's name, defendant's name, date of divorce, county of divorce, and reference information for locating the divorce certificate, including a volume number, docket number, and certificate number (the certificate number will only be listed for the 1934-39 divorces).
  • Arkansas Land Records: The patentee was the first owner of property after the initial survey. Once the patent was issued, the land became private property and was then sold with a deed. The townships, the six-mile-square land blocks which were the original divisions of land from the federal land grants, were then divided into 36 one-mile squares. The township numbering was the north-south numbering, starting from the center line. The range numbering was the east-west numbering, starting from the center line. The section is the one-mile-square portion (approximately 640 acres) of a township. That was was also generally divided into 36 equal squares (each of which might be divided another 36 times).
  • Arkansas Marriages, 1779-1992: This database contains marriage information from selected areas of Arkansas for over 300,000 individuals from 1779-1992. A complete list of which counties are included in this index is provided below. Please note that not all counties are included. Information that may be found in this database for each individual includes their name, spouse's name, and marriage date and location. Marriage records are great sources for genealogists because they document an individual in a particular place and time as well as provide details about that person's marriage.

  • Arkansas Marriages to 1850: This database of Arkansas marriages to 1850 contains over 18,000 names. Each entry includes groom, bride, marriage date, county, and state. Every name is indexed so you can search for one name, or two names that are linked.
  • Arkansas Marriages, 1851-1900: Arkansas, which became the 25th state in 1836, was home to hundreds of thousands of residents throughout the 19th century. This database of Arkansas marriage records between 1851 and 1900 includes records from Ashley, Baxter, Benton, Carroll, Clark, Clay, Cleveland, Conway, Craighead, Crawford, Cross, Dallas, Fulton, Garland, Grant, Hempstead, Hot Spring, Howard, Independence, Johnson, Lafayette, Lawrence, Logan, Lonoke, Marion, Montgomery, Nevada, Phillips, Pike, Polk, Prairie, Randolph, St. Francis, Scott, Sebastian, Sharp, Stone Yell, Union, Washington, and White Counties.
  • Arkansas Marriage Index, 1933-1939: This database is an index to individuals who were married in the state of Arkansas from 1933-1939. Information that may be found in this database for each entry includes groom's full name, bride's full name, their marriage date, license date, county of marriage, marriage certificate number, and the volume number in which the certificate is located. Marriage records are great sources for genealogists because they document an individual in a particular place and time as well as provide details about that person's marriage. Please note that this index is not complete and may contain inaccuracies.

Arkansas Maps (See Also Map Information for other States) - The Arkansas State Highway Commission, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, prepared a complete set of Arkansas county maps entitled General Highway and Transportation Maps of Counties of Arkansas.  These detailed maps show such landmarks as roads, cemeteries, towns, railroads, watercourses, dwellings, farms, churches, schools, businesses, factory or industrial plants, and sawmills for each county in the state. Copies of this softbound compilation, no longer available for purchase, are available for research at the Arkansas History Commission, which also houses a fine collection of maps pertaining to Arkansas.
